For part of the summer of ’09 I toured between xc and endurance races in Italy and in Switzerland on a geared Soul Cycles Dillinger 29er sent to me by Chad at SC for training and for the odd race where I might want derailleurs (I usually race a virtually identical singlespeed Dillinger). I had two small panniers mounted to an OMM rack. One of the panniers had my race tires and all my race kit, and the other had my tour gear. This was a perfectly decent setup for six weeks, even if there was more weight in back than I usually prefer. The Garmin 705 loaded with maps of Europe and the incredible network of marked bike touring routes in Switzerland made navigation easy.
The night before the Grand Raid.
