Did a lovely night ride in Old San Juan and witnessed a curious thing: it seems that OSJ at 10pm is a popular training area for local mountain bikers. I spotted at least a dozen riders in racing kit crisscrossing the cobbled boulevards of the old city, and they had that determined, “don’t bother me I’m training” look about them. As I was snapping photos, two women unloaded their car and saddled up, one on a Specialized Epic, the other on some carbon fiber Trek dualie. I’d see them later riding shoulder to shoulder chatting after some intervals, just as riders might on a rural road.
I don’t know what to make of all that except to say that Old San Juan is quite nice, at night it is a bit cooler and low traffic, and it’s moderately hilly.
